Founded over 20 years ago in the garage of Clarence Elley as 4-E construction, Express Metalwork was acquired in 2005 by partners Kara Clayton and Joe Kortsch. Kara and Joe introduced a business model that includes express service, personalized customer care and professional management. These fundamentals coupled with a strong market for fabricated steel in San Antonio led to explosive growth in the company, which in turn fostered an increase in capabilities and available services.

Today, Express Metalwork has almost 30 employees on two shifts. Recently, we moved into a new 17,000sq ft facility in the heart of downtown San Antonio. Although we have grown rapidly, we remain close to our humble roots. We continue to offer express service at a reasonable price for those times when a project gets “stuck” waiting for a few needed pieces of steel. We can beat any lead time in San Antonio on small and medium jobs, including specialty work bending, rolling and certified welding of steel, stainless and aluminum.

Our regular customers include industrial giants such as Toyota and Terex, international and local construction firms including Skanska USA, C.F. Jordan and Alpha Building Corporation and local businesses from Aztec Rental to Alamo Iron Works. We continually seek out those professionals who demand superior fabrication services and personalized customer care.
